One Teacher at a Time Scholarship Program Download "One Teacher at a Time" Packet The Institute has witnessed many times over the transformation that occurs with teachers after two weeks of concentrated study on insurance principles addressing all lines of insurance. Teachers who previously had negligible insurance knowledge, derived mostly through personal experience, returned to their classrooms armed with facts and a positive understanding of the risk management business. Our challenge is to convince more teachers to attend the IEI Institutes to gain this new teaching knowledge. One way that insurance companies and organizations can become directly engaged is through the sponsorship of a specific teacher. The information below describes why and how your company or organization can become a catalyst for teacher education. Remember…for each teacher completing the Institute, more than 75 students learn about insurance each and every year the teacher is in the classroom. Your company or organization can help assure that by encouraging teachers in your local communities to become involved, they are communicating credible information to high school students. The purpose of this program is to enable teachers to become more effective in teaching insurance. The Institute is designed to provide the tools they need for understanding all forms of insurance, how the industry works, and what insurance careers are available. Sponsor one or more teachers to attend a two-week Institute! Includes all costs except travel (sponsor can reimburse travel expenses).
Did you know… – For every ONE teacher educated through the IEI Institute Program, 75 of tomorrow’s insurance consumers will be educated each year!
Teacher Selection: - Secondary teachers of insurance/financial literacy. (Disciplines include: Math, Economics, Family and Consumer Sciences, Drivers’ Education, Business, Social Science, and Consumer Education.) - Recommend your own teacher or request IEI staff to select one for you.
Company Involvement – Company identifies, recruits and sponsors a teacher or asks IEI to find a match. – Teacher applies to and attends the Institute of his or her choice. – Host your sponsored-teacher at your office and recognize him/her for successful completion and learn how the Institute was of benefit. – Publicly recognize the teacher’s dedication with a presentation in front of a student assembly, PTA/PTO meeting, or school board meeting.
