Risk, Responsibility, Reality: How Insurance Works
Network with Teachers Program
Do you know a high school teacher who could use free program materials to supplement their curriculum? How would you like to be the one to offer it to them and boost your networking in your community?
The Insurance Education Institute (IEI) has determined that young people need to understand the principles of risk management and how insurance enables them to manage that process more effectively.
IEI’s goal is to provide high school teachers with a knowledge base that will enable them to teach their students about insurance and sound risk management techniques.
To accomplish that goal, IEI produces teaching materials designed to facilitate the educational process in the classroom.
IEI believes it is critical that a high school teacher have an industry contact to guide and assist them in delivering credible and realistic insights into the insurance process.
The challenge for IEI is to place these teaching materials directly into the hands of teachers. Without an effective distribution system, teachers will either have difficulty teaching insurance principles or choose not to incorporate insurance into the class curriculum.
You can help by participating in the “Network with Teachers” program. You can hand-deliver the new IEI education kit, Risk, Responsibility, Reality: How Insurance Works, to teachers who teach insurance as part of another subject such as business, consumer education, economics, social science, family & consumer science, mathematics or driver education.
Risk, Responsibility, Reality: How Insurance Works is a supplemental learning tool for high school teachers to educate students about insurance and risk management. This program is a DVD with printed supplemental materials designed to explain the basics of insurance, especially as they are relevant to high school students now or in the foreseeable future, and help students apply them to everyday situations that they can relate to. The program also promotes personal responsibility as a route to controlling risk.
