Insurance Education Foundation Mourns Loss of Jack Clanton

3, 2003 -- Insurance Education Foundation (IEI) CEO
Jack Clanton passed away on Sept. 28 after a courageous
battle with cancer. Clanton had served as chIEI executive
officer for IEI since August 2002 and was instrumental
in continuing the organization's mission of educating
teachers and students about insurance.
"Jack was a truly special person and a very dear
friend of The Insurance Education Institute,"
said Stephen Collesano, Vice President, American International
Group, Inc., who also serves as IEI Chairman. "He
was tireless in his dedication to help teachers educate
students about insurance. We will miss his boundless
enthusiasm that inspired everyone around him. Good-bye
old friend."
Clanton's work in the insurance industry spanned several
decades. Before joining IEI, he worked for the Farm
Bureau Mutual Insurance Company for 28 years, retiring
as Vice-President and General Manager. Clanton also
served as Past-Chairman of the Board of the National
Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. Other industry
related affiliations include National Association of
Independent Insurers, Farm Bureau Multi-Line Pool Committee,
Farm Bureau Advisory Council, Crop Insurance Research
Bureau, National Crop Insurance Association and various
other insurance related organizations.
Clanton leaves behind his wife of 39 years, the former
Phyllis Anderson, as well as four children and 11 grandchildren.
