Secretary of Education Rod Paige Will Speak at Insurance Education Foundation Gala Dinner
The 12th Annual Insurance Education Foundation
Gala Dinner and Golf Classic in Washington D.C. will
feature Secretary of Education Rod Paige.
Paige will speak at the Sept 21st dinner, which precedes
the golf tournament on Sept. 22, and the NAMIC convention
Sept. 23-26 at the Historic Washington Hilton and Towers.
Paige was confirmed by the United States Senate as
the 7th Secretary of Education on Jan. 20, 2001, following
the inauguration of President George W. Bush.
Paige first distinguished himself coaching college-level
athletics, and has always been committed to public education
and the preparation of teachers to excel in their profession.
Included among Secretary Paige spent a decade as Dean
of the College of Education at Texas Southern University.
He was also a trustee and an officer of the Board of
Education of the Houston Independent Superintendent
School District (HISD); superintendent of HISD; and
a member of the Education Commission of the States.
In 2001, he was named the National Superintendent of
the Year by the American Association of School Administrators.
The golf classic will be held on the courses of Andrews
Air Force Base. All proceeds from the dinner and tournament
will be used to produce insurance education materials
for high school students and insurance institutes for
secondary educators.
