Insurance Education Foundation's Summer Insurance Institutes for Teachers Set for 2001
Indianapolis (February 27, 2001) The Insurance Education Institute (IEI) has announced its 2001 Insurance
Education Institutes, held each summer for teachers
who include insurance in their curriculum either as
a specific course or as part of another subject. These
two-week programs are designed to enable teachers to
become more effective in teaching insurance and to provide
the tools they need for understanding all forms of insurance
with an emphasis on the relevance to high school students
and their families. Three hours of graduate credit are
awarded to those who successfully complete the course.
Those eligible to attend are high school and community
college instructors who teach insurance in any class,
high school principals and guidance counselors, and
graduate students majoring in education.
Teachers who are accepted into the program receive
a full scholarship from The Insurance Education Institute,
an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization. The Foundation
will provide scholarships for 185 teachers this year.
Host schools include: Drake University, Des Moines,
Iowa (June 17-29); the College of Insurance, New York
City (July 8-20); California State University, Sacramento
(to be held on the campus of the University of San Francisco
[June 18-28]); Illinois State University, Normal (July
