Thirteen New Contributors in First Six Months of the Year
Thirteen companies have become new contributors, joining the 165-plus contributors that renewed their 2003 donation. Thirty-two percent of the 2003 contributors not only renewed their commitment to insurance education, but increased their contribution for 2004.

167 Teachers Learn About Insurance at Five University Locations
By the end of July, the 2004 Institutes will be completed at St. John's University, Drake University, the University of Central Arkansas, Illinois State University and Mississippi State University.

Can Michael Richards be Recreated?
Many of you have seen the Foundation's first classroom teaching aid, Choice-Chance-Control, starring Michael Richards from the sitcom Seinfeld. The timing was superb, as Seinfeld hit the top of the television ratings soon after the video was produced by Media Options of Chicago.

Steve Weissenstein Named as 2004 Teacher of the Year
In 1988, the IEI created the James L. Osborne Educator of the Year Award to recognize a teacher's performance in educating high school students about risk and how to manage the risk they face in their daily lives.

Sixteen Contributions Made to Teachers Institute Scholarships
An emerging program is the sponsorship of a high school teacher to attend one of the two-week institutes held at five universities. Sixteen organizations and/or companies have stepped forward to recognize a deserving teacher with a partial or full-scholarship.

Amethyst Ring Bidding Online - Deadline September 21, 2004
The NAMIC Auxiliary is auctioning an amethyst ring to benefit IEI and insurance education programs. Online bidding is taking place on the IEI website at http://www.IEI.org/ring.htm. The auction will close Tuesday, September 21, at midnight. Purchase this ring as a great gift for yourself or a special person and help IEI offer more free materials to high school teachers and students.
Chance for Two to attend the Ryder Cup - Drawing on August 1
The Foundation is raffling two full ticket packages (hotel, season pass, etc.) to the 2004 Ryder Cup in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. Only 300 tickets are being sold at $100 each and can be purchased online at https://www.namic.org/IEI/raffle.htm or through the office (800) 433-4811.
The drawing for the winner will be conducted on August 1, 2004.
Attention to all attendees of the NAMIC and PCI annual conventions
The primary fundraising events for IEI are held during the NAMIC and PCI annual conventions. The 15th Annual Golf Classic will be held September 18, 2004 just prior to the NAMIC convention in Washington, D.C. The Third Annual Golf Benefit will be held just prior to the PCI meeting on October 24, 2004, also in Washington D.C. Both golf tournaments will be at the Renditions golf course in Davidsonville, Maryland.

Paul Davies, Chairman, Aon Re Corp Elected as 2005 Chairman
Paul Davies has served on the IEI board since 1998, and has been selected to lead the Foundation in 2005. Paul has been an active leader for IEI and has promoted the value of being a part of the Foundation's effort to educate young people about risk and risk management.
Paul will succeed current Chairman, Jeff Harrold, at the annual meeting in February of 2005.
