DeLane Isaak Named National Insurance Educator of the Year for 1998

The Insurance Education Institute (IEI) recognized DeLane W. Isaak, a Business Education and English teacher at Clark High School in Clark, South Dakota, as the recipient of the James L. Osborne Insurance Educator of the Year award for 1998. In honor of IEI's founder, James L. Osborne, this award is presented each year to a high school teacher who demonstrates excellence in providing insurance education to our nation's students.

Isaak, a veteran educator of 33 years, has also taught economics and speech and drama at high schools in North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. He was an Associate Professor of Business Education at Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts, for six years.

With a double major in English and Business Education, DeLane earned his undergraduate degree from Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota, a master's degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, and an educational specialist degree (CAGS) from Boston University. Post-graduate work was completed at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

In 1990, DeLane attended IEI's Insurance Education Institute for high school teachers at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He was invited to serve on the IEI National Advisory Council of Secondary Teachers in 1995, where he contributed his expertise in education and had input about the Foundation's education programs.

The Foundation is proud to recognize this outstanding educator who sets the example of dedication, professionalism, a profound commitment to education and life-long learning, and enthusiastic involvement and love for his students.
