Course Description:
A brief description of a course in which you teach insurance, including/explaining:
a) the name of the course in which an insurance unit is included
b) whether or not the course is required by your school or your state
c) the grade level of students
d) if there is a typical student who enrolls in this course
e) if the course is one or two semesters
f) what other units of instruction are included in the course
g) how much time is devoted to insurance instruction (number of hours)
h) other pertinent information

Along with the form above, you must send in other information.

Lesson Plans:

A minimum of three lesson plans.  Each lesson plan should describe in detail:
1) objectives, outcomes, standards, and benchmarks (appropriate terminology in your region)
2) all materials and resources used by you and by the students
3) student activities included in the plan
4) time required to complete each lesson
5) your delivery methods for teaching (what is creative about your lessons)
6) the variety of methods for used to accommodate students' learning types
7) a description of the evaluation methods or other assessment procedures (copy of test, if applicable)

Checking this box grants IEI Permission to use in print and/or electronic media any lesson plans submitted as part of the James L. Osborne Award competition.

Letters of Recommendation:

Please arrange for at least two letters of recommendation to be sent to IEI by the February 15 deadline.  One letter should be from your principal and another from a colleague who is in a position to observe your classroom success (curriculum supervisor, department chairperson, etc.)
