Overview

Health Insurance: The Basics is a short, 60 minute lesson designed to cover the fundamentals of health insurance. This lesson shows students the importance of having health insurance and how not having it can be dangerous to their future. The two basic health insurance plans, group and individual, are explored in detail. Students will also be able to identify the major problems with the healthcare problems in the United States.

Objectives

The students will:

Understand 10 things they should know about health insurance

Define what health insurance is

Recognize the two basic types of health insurance plans

Identify reasons for the healthcare problems in the United States today
